Advice on writing CVs

Listen to an interview with a recruitment expert, who talks about his experience of reading CVs and offers some good advice on writing them.

Do the Preparation task first. Then listen to the audio. Next go to each Task and do the activity. If you need help, you can read the transcript at any time.

Task 1

Task 2

Task 3

Weak forms are syllable sounds that become unstressed in connected speech and are often then pronounced as a schwa.

In the sentence below the first 'do' is a weak form and the second is stressed.

What do you want to do this evening?

Weak forms are very common in English. Listen carefully and fill in the gaps with the missing words typed out in full.

And If you are possible to share the sample format of UK's CV, it would be great!!

Hello stella,

There are many different ways of formatting a CV. There is an example of one on the ESOL Nexus's Writing a curriculum vitae page.

I have been trying to download an audio by click on it, "right click" but it didn't work out. what can I do?

Hello yussri,

The audio file on the page is correctly embedded and downloads fine; if you are having problems downloading it then I'm afraid the problem is at your end and we cannot help with this. It may be a firewall or security programme, for example, or something similar.

Please note that the link is the one titled as follows:

Download audio 1.95MB (right click & save)

Best wishes,
