Rob and Stephen get stressed, and Rob talks about will, could and might.

Task 1

Decide how many syllables each of these words has. Then decide where the stress is, and group similar words together.

Task 2

Read the first sentence and then decide if will, could or might is needed to give the second sentence the same meaning.

Task 3

Which phrase finishes the conversation?

Task 4

Here are the four conversations from the last exercise. Type in the boxes to complete them. The first letters of the words are given for you, so don't type them.

Language level

Intermediate: B1
Upper intermediate: B2

I failed in task (1) because I don't know the right pronunciation of the words . So, It's not possible to defined the syllables and the stress
I need help , and I want to know the right pronunciation of (syllables) if (le) is replaced by (o).
I heard Rob in the vedio saying shtress not stress
please help and thanks for everything

Hi monaia,

You can check pronunication and stress with our Cambridge Dictionaries Online tool. Just type the word into the Cambridge Dictionaries Online search window on the right and type 'Look it up!' and you'll see links to both the UK and US pronunciation and see the phonemic transcription of the word, showing you the pronunciation, including the stress.

I hope that helps you.

Best wishes,

Hello, many thanks for your help to improve my English skills. I have a question, I'd like to download your videos to watch whenever I can. Could you please tell me how to do that? It would be grateful in advance.

Hi kooshesh,

I'm afraid that our videos are not available for download, since they are under copyright. Our Elementary Podcasts and Big City Small World episodes, which are audio podcasts, are available for download if you're interested in them.

Best wishes,
