Thanks for this free english course!

hello I'm new here. How are you

How are you LearnEnglish Team. actually I haven't visited Britain yet . my question is about slang in britain. is it hard for me to learn it ? what do you advise me to learn ? formal or slang language ? and is big city small world program slang or formal language ? do they use it in Britain?

Hello Ali nasser dine,

I don't think there is a course in slang which can be taken. Slang is a very broad term and it really describes a wide range of different kinds of informal language used by certain groups and it is always changing and adapting. The slang you can hear, for example, teenagers use today is different to the slang which was common for teenagers a decade ago.

I think the only way to familiarise yourself with slang is to listen and watch authentic language on the internet and in films. Remember, though, that slang is often intended to be hard to understand for anyone outside of the group - that is often its purpose.

Thanks Mr Peter for your replying on my question . you're right . in my mother language there are groups used slang as well.
