Hi Sunny!

How are you?

We're finally coming to Singapore so I wanted to ask your advice on what we should do while we're there. What shouldn't we miss? We'll have our two kids aged 6 and 8 with us so ideally we want to do things we can enjoy as a family.

We've already got a hotel booked in Marina Bay and we arrive on 12 May for a week.

I hope you're around so we can meet up!

See you soon,

Janet

Hi Janet!

Lovely to hear from you and how exciting that you're coming!

You've picked a great area to stay in as it's right next to a must-see attraction, Gardens by the Bay. They light them up at night and the kids will love it. Another place to take the little ones is the zoo, and the Night Safari is really worth doing. The animals are much more active at night than during the day, so it's pretty special.

As for food, there's quite a variety here. I'd recommend trying laksa and kaya toast – they're both really typical Singaporean foods. You can also eat well and cheaply at street markets. You should definitely check them out.

Can't wait to see you all!

Sunny

Tips

  1. Start informal emails with Hi + name instead of Dear + name.
  2. An informal email can be like a conversation, so you can start with How are you?
  3. If you're replying, you can start with Lovely to hear from you.
  4. Use these phrases to make recommendations:
... is worth doing / seeing / going to.
    ... is a must-see (attraction).
    I'd recommend ...
    You can ...
    You should ...
  5. Say why you recommend those things.
  6. You can add something at the end using P.S.

Hello there!
I live in Shymkent. It is north of the Kazakhstan. We have many sightseeing places around the city e.g. parks, zoo and buildings. Also I would recommend historical places like Mausoleum Of Yassawi, Aisha Bibi, Arystan Baba. Mausoleum Of Yassawi is included for a list of UNESCO. In the north of Kazakhstan weather and nature is wonderful. You can find some Mountain resorts and beaches there.

I would recommend for tourists to visit the world famous and historical city of London in the UK. London is very beautiful and attractive for tourists. There is a big museum and special art gallery. The large parks, the river Thames and the London eye is most lovely for tourists of any age. There are big and beautiful sports grounds. There are different kinds of birds houses. Safari zoo is most attractive for tourists. The restaurants and food streets are famous for high quality and standard of foods and drinks. The under ground trains system is so amazing. The shopping malls, cinema halls, theatre, beach, London bridge and much more.....for tourists.

I would recommend tourists to visit the National Museum of Bogota, which has many important things and each one of them tells the history of Colombia. It is a great place.

Since I live in the city of Iași, Romania, I would recommend visiting the Palace of Culture as well the Palas Mall, which is just at a few steps away.
The city can be defined as being modern and classic in the same time: glass buildings in contrast with old tramways imported from Germany, architectural wonders next to theb beige communist's buildings.
As for food, you can find traditional food in many places throughout the city, including in the Palas Mall's food court.
Do you want to go shopping? You have stores everywhere. Do you want nature? The botanical garden is waiting you.
If you want a place full of modernism and classicism, Iași is a must-see place.

Does the sentence "we arrive on 12 May for a week" mean "we arrive on 12 May and stay for a week"?

As I am now in Japan, so I want to invite you to visit Japan. Now as the season of Japan is winter, it is very cold. If you like to do skiing, it is the best time to visit Hokkaido. At there, there is a tunnel which is constructed across the beneath of the sea. For place to stay in, there are two kinds of places in Japan; hotels and Japanese-style inns. I'd recommend staying in Japanese-style inns to get a new experience. Even though, I haven't had foods which can be ordered in these inns, I have heard those are delicious. As for me, the Japanese box lunch called bento which can be bought easily in every convenient store and supermarket are more suitable. Although they are a little cheap, they fit my taste.

Hi NiNi,
How are you these days? We haven't met since your birthday. I have heard that you are staying in Korea for work. So, I am going to plan to visit Korea next week. If you have a time, take me around Seoul. If you won't, tell us about the place where should we go, recommend street foods we should try. I trust you so I didn't plan anything. I also bring our traditional foods for you. See you next week.

Ellie.

P.s- Don't say me "No". You go along with my adivce.

Hi, Kate
I hope you are well.
Lovely to hear that you and your family are there in Egypt. I am sorry for not be there now. But I will recommend places to enjoy your first trip to Egypt. The pyramids, cruise-in Nile, Alexandria Library, Sant Catherine, the Red Sea and Khan ElKhalily. About the food, Egypt is famous for kosher, Molokhia, stuffed food and many other types of foods. I recommend eating from street markets. Sometimes it is delicious.
I hope we meet very soon.
