Hi Sunny!

How are you?

We're finally coming to Singapore so I wanted to ask your advice on what we should do while we're there. What shouldn't we miss? We'll have our two kids aged 6 and 8 with us so ideally we want to do things we can enjoy as a family.

We've already got a hotel booked in Marina Bay and we arrive on 12 May for a week.

I hope you're around so we can meet up!

See you soon,

Janet

Hi Janet!

Lovely to hear from you and how exciting that you're coming!

You've picked a great area to stay in as it's right next to a must-see attraction, Gardens by the Bay. They light them up at night and the kids will love it. Another place to take the little ones is the zoo, and the Night Safari is really worth doing. The animals are much more active at night than during the day, so it's pretty special.

As for food, there's quite a variety here. I'd recommend trying laksa and kaya toast – they're both really typical Singaporean foods. You can also eat well and cheaply at street markets. You should definitely check them out.

Can't wait to see you all!

Sunny

Tips

  1. Start informal emails with Hi + name instead of Dear + name.
  2. An informal email can be like a conversation, so you can start with How are you?
  3. If you're replying, you can start with Lovely to hear from you.
  4. Use these phrases to make recommendations:
... is worth doing / seeing / going to.
    ... is a must-see (attraction).
    I'd recommend ...
    You can ...
    You should ...
  5. Say why you recommend those things.
  6. You can add something at the end using P.S.

Does the sentence "we arrive on 12 May for a week" mean "we arrive on 12 May and stay for a week"?

As I am now in Japan, so I want to invite you to visit Japan. Now as the season of Japan is winter, it is very cold. If you like to do skiing, it is the best time to visit Hokkaido. At there, there is a tunnel which is constructed across the beneath of the sea. For place to stay in, there are two kinds of places in Japan; hotels and Japanese-style inns. I'd recommend staying in Japanese-style inns to get a new experience. Even though, I haven't had foods which can be ordered in these inns, I have heard those are delicious. As for me, the Japanese box lunch called bento which can be bought easily in every convenient store and supermarket are more suitable. Although they are a little cheap, they fit my taste.

Hi NiNi, How are you these days? We haven't met since your birthday. I have heard that you are staying in Korea for work. So, I am going to plan to visit Korea next week. If you have a time, take me around Seoul. If you won't, tell us about the place where should we go, recommend street foods we should try. I trust you so I didn't plan anything. I also bring our traditional foods for you. See you next week. Ellie. P.s- Don't say me "No". You go along with my adivce.

The only thing I could recommend is don't come here, this is a boring city. The only interesting matter here are women, this country and obviously my city are filled with gorgeous women. I'm kidding, this city is surrounded by old and beautiful towns and is on the border so you could know two countries at a time.

I live in a small town in Lower Saxony in Germany and There aren't a lot of must-see attractions around the city. But if someone will come one day here, I would recommend seeing the marine castle. This place is worth going to.

Hi Kate! How are you? We're finally coming to the land of abundant, Chengdu so I wanted to ask your advice on what we should do while we're there. What shouldn't we miss? We'll have our daughter aged 6 with us so ideally we want to do things we can enjoy as a family. We've already booked a hotel near Broad and Narrow valley and we arrive on 30th September for 10 days. I hope you're around so we can meet up! See you soon, Shelly Hi Shelly! Lovely to hear from you and how exciting that you're coming! You've picked a great area to stay in as it's right next to a must-see attraction with lots of special snacks and interesting souvenirs, and I believe the kid will love it. Another place to take the little one is the Panda Base where it is really worth having a look, if the weather is suitable they will be much more active, so will be a pretty unforgettable journey. As for food, there's quite a variety here. I'd recommend trying hot pot which is really typical food. You can also eat well and cheaply at street markets near your hotel. You should definitely check them out. Can't wait to see you all! Kate P.S. please tell me your train number, I will pick up at the train station.
