hello

What is the meaning of "thought so".
Please observe the below dialogue as well as describe the meaning of "Though so!" which has uttered by Johnny.
Johnny: No...I am waiting to meet someone...but not you! Where are you from, anyway?
Sarah: Well, I live in London now, but I’m originally from Shanghai.
Johnny: Thought so! I’m from Hong Kong.
Olivia: Sorry to interrupt..but who are you both waiting for?

Hello meheee2008uiu,

This is a shortened version of 'I thought so!', used when something somebody says confirms a suspicion that we had.  Here Johnny had an idea that Sarah was from Shanghai, and what she said confirmed it.

Best wishes,

Peter

Hi Everyone
1-What does maintime mean ??
2-Fadi: You’ve got to speculate to accumulate! Be patient – we’ll still be successful!
3-Harry: If we don’t, I’ll be joining Carlos working in this café!
I didn't understand that
Thanks

Hello zainab1110,

'maintime' isn't a word that I'm familiar with - do you perhaps mean meantime? In any case, I'd recommend you look up words and phrases that you don't know in the dictionary - there's a handy Cambridge Dictionaries Online search box in the column on the right side of this page.

The idea of speculating to accumulate refers to the idea that you must take risks to make money (if you look up speculate and accumulate in the dictionary, I think this will be clear) - Fadi has invested Harry's and Johnny's money. When Harry says the sentence above, he means that if Fadi's investment of their money doesn't pay off, he'll have to start working in the café to make a living.

very easy and clear .

I'm excited about listening to the recordings because they sound emotional and clear enough to understand properly.

Hi angelali,

Welcome to LearnEnglish!

To improve your writing, it's important to practice it. Unfortunately, we don't have the resources to give users individualized feedback on their writing, but there are still plenty of ways you can use LearnEnglish to work on your own.

If you're interested in academic writing, see our section called Writing for a Purpose. http://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/en/writing-purpose/writing-purpose You can also respond to other users in the comment sections to carry on a written conversation, just as I am responding to you now.

Finally, good writers learn from reading other writers' texts, so you could learn a lot about writing from reading the content on the site. The Magazine might be a great place to start if this interests you: http://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/en/magazine .
