You've got mail! Learn how to talk about the different parts of an email program.

Unit 3: Organising your emails

Organising your emails

Read the article below and then look at the email inbox below it. You will find out what words should go in the numbered gaps in the article in Task 2 and will answer questions about the inbox in Task 3.

Organise your emails – Save time and make life easier!!! (Task 2)

Most emails that you get go straight to your (1). This is where you decide which emails to read and which to delete. But if your server doesn’t recognise the address of a sender, it will probably put the email in the (2) mail folder. This is where all those annoying adverts usually go. But sometimes good emails go there too, so remember to check from time to time.

Do you ever worry because you just deleted an email by mistake? Don’t worry – just look in the (3) folder. It’s probably still there.

Sometimes it can be difficult to find an old email. So why not put them into (4) to make them easy to find? You can do this for any emails you wrote too – you can find them in (5).

Some people keep hundreds of business cards with people’s email address and phone number. You don’t need to do this – use your (6) as an address book, and it can store all these details for you.

Have you ever found it difficult to finish writing an email? Don’t worry – just save it under (7) and finish it later!

So simple

I don't understand . Task 3
Who replied to Hatem Trabelsi's email?
Plz explain me.

Hello khin La Pyae Win,

We can see who has replied to the first email because two later emails have the same subject with 'RE' at the front, showing that they are replies to the first email.

Best wishes,

I don't understand how to create these folders separately i.e 1, 2, 3 accordingly.
Please help me.

Hello Samina Akter,

Do you mean the three Tasks? First you must press on the word 'Task' (or 'Task 2', etc.) and then you should see an exercise. In the first Task, you must click or press on a word and then click or press on the gap where you want it to go - that should make it move there.

In the other two tasks, you must click or press on the small circle next to the correct answer. At the end, press the Finish button to see if your answers were correct or not. The Finish button becomes Show Answers - if you press that, the correct answers will appear.

All the best,
The LearnEnglish Team

Hello Peter,
Good Morning,
I request you to correct the mail content.

I want to send it to my Head & pls find the back ground of the mail.

During my business visit, customer was complaining about duplicate items & supplied by unauthorized distributor.

I am bringing to your knowledge, pls talk to Mr. Hegde, Mlabs regarding unauthorised distributors & supplied by duplicate items.
Mlabs has placed the TLC plates order with Orange Trader, Bombay.(unauthorized distributor.) But, they have supplied Merck Duplicate items to Veerasandra plant. Now customer has asked us to give the Merck Authorised Distributors Names. Based on our mail communication, they want to reject the material.
So, Can I send a mail communication to Mlabs, like we have authorised only three distributor are chem, Sri scientific & SM Scientifics.

Rameshkumar, D

Hello rameshlokanayak,

I'm afraid we don't offer a correction service. We are asked to correct texts very often and it's just not possible for us to do so - if we tried to do this then we would have no time for anything else!

Best wishes,

The LearnEnglish Team
