British Council's first pronunciation chart for learners and teachers worldwide.

* Pure vowels are arranged the same way as in the IPA chart: according to mouth shape (left to right, lips wide / round - top to bottom, jaw closed / open).

* Diphthongs are grouped in rows according to their second sound.

We hope you enjoy using this chart.

I think that learnnig those sound isn't easy

Hello Ebtisam,
Try your best!

Hellow everyone!
My name is Keith,I hope to make friends with you.

wow . i liked this  exercise

really great !
but i think learning sounds not easy to learn  ,
it's need more hard practices :(
But I wonder  what the importance of learning the sounds?
I can read and write without learning!

Many learners find these symbols useful in learning to pronounce words in English. Dictionaries and coursebooks often use them to show pronunciation, since you can't always work this out from spelling in English.
Best wishes,
