Hi every body, specially "The Learn English Team"
I have a question in this soap story.
what do you mean about this sentence: "but I didn’t get very far with my
studies" that Johnny said.
I think he had to say " I didn't get very NEAR with my studies" didn't he?
because he has worked a lot and didn't have enough time to study! so he got far, and didn't get near with his study.
This is only my gess and I'm not sure. I pleased if you tell me about it.
Love.
Samira

Hello abosohaad,

If you check back to Series 1 Episode 12 (Good News, Bad News), you will find Johnny having a difficult decision to make.

He then reappeared in Series 2 Episode 6 (Welcome Back Johnny!), so we can figure out the decision he eventually made!

Kindly tell me the meaning of the word 'betcha' as I saw it in a story of Isaac Asimov. The entire sentence is , " He knows almost as much,I betcha."

Hello Raashid,
I'm glad to see some of our users enjoy Asmiov's work.
Some dictionaries have this word, and some don't because it is 'non-standard' English. It is actually the contraction of two words - bet you However, when we speak, or when we write spoken English, the words run into one another, and it becomes pronounced betcha!'
There are similar patterns with don't you (dontcha) and got you (gotcha).
For a definition, try looking up you bet into the Cambridge Dictionaries Online search box on the right of the page.
Regards,
Stephen
