Hello tungnguyen,

Welcome to LearnEnglish! The first thing I would recommend you do is read our Getting started page, which gives you general information on how our site works. Finally, I'd encourage you to explore our site, as there is a lot here and it's worth taking some time to become familiar with it.

Hi DEJEN ANDUALM,

It's great that you want to practise your English - that's the best way to improve. However, please note that our House Rules ask users to neither offer nor ask for personal contact details such as email addresses. This is for data protection reasons.

Hiii,
I am new in English learning and I don't have any idea how to start learning so how can I start learning English help me about it

Hello Irfan Arab,

I just responded to another user who had the same question and I would recommend the same thing to you, except perhaps you should start with Series 1 instead of Series 3 (Series 1 is a bit harder). I'd recommend that, but you can use our site however you'd like to. And let us know if you have any questions!

All the best,

Dear Sir ,
We usually when we speak we say , "Children depends on their parents" or "Children are generally dependant on their parents" but is there an exception or a general rule that i should know about. For instance, i came across this sentence, "The growth of the service industry is dependent on their/its ability" , What should be the correct usage. ?

Hello LiprajSingh,

The verb is 'depend (on)' and it is a regular verb, so you should say 'Children depend on...' rather than 'Children depends on...'.

'Dependent (on)' is the adjective. You can use either the verb or the adjective - the meaning is the same, and it is simply a question of how you choose to express the idea.

Best wishes,

Peter
