Elementary Podcasts are suitable for learners with different levels of English. Here are some ways to make them easier (if you have a lower level of English) or more difficult (if you have a higher level of English). You can choose one or two of these suggestions - you don't have to do all of them!
Making it easier
- Read all the exercises before you listen to the podcast.
- Look up the words in the exercises that you don't know in a dictionary.
- Play the podcast as many times as you need.
- Play each part of the podcast separately.
- Read the transcript after you have listened to the podcast.
Making it harder
- Listen to the podcast before you read the exercises.
- Only play the podcast once before answering the questions.
- Play the whole podcast without a break.
- Don't read the transcript.
Now, listen to the podcast and do the exercises on the following tabs.
1
Select all the sentences that are true, according to the podcast.
2
Choose the best answer.
3
Match the halves of the sentences.
4
Put the words in the right order. Don’t look back at Activity 3!
5
Which prefix do we use to make these adjectives negative?
6
Write the negative prefix – im, un or in.

Dear all
I have joined you on the website. I am from France. I am going to improve my English . I noticed that hikers are more polite than drivers. It is very polite to say thank you with his hand when drivers, near a pedestrian crossing, stop their car. It is a rule to stop the car but not to say thanks. It is hard to find his word. The dictionary is a good tool. Thank you to the team Learn English.
Hello! Why I can´t download any audio? Is it possible download and listen it in your mp3 player?
team
Hello Alina,
Are you still having trouble downloading the podcast? I've just tried, and it seems to work fine.
For the regular mp3, there is a link just below the audio player on the page. Right click on the link, and choose 'Save As' or 'Save Target As' depending on your browser.
For the higher quality mp3, you need to click Instructions & Downloads. You'll then have the choice of downloading the high quality mp3 or the enhanced version.
Let me know if you still have difficulty.

Hello, Everybody, I am from India and I can say that Indian are polite. Although it is very difficult to measure politeness, some time people do not say anything but through their gesture, we can understand their politeness. Finally politeness depends on place, language and culture. Now I am living in Japan and Japanese people always say arigatou, sumimasen (means thank you and excuse me). They say again and again thanks (arigatou) more than one. I have some friends from Britain and yes, they are polite but if we consider the word “thanks and excuse me” and we watch conversation definitely, I can say Japanese are more polite than other. However this observation depends only the words and I can’t say that other are not polite.
your 'elementary podcast' is super fantastic.Thank you very much

In my point of view, British people are very polite late due to the language they use.
