Elementary Podcasts are suitable for learners with different levels of English. Here are some ways to make them easier (if you have a lower level of English) or more difficult (if you have a higher level of English). You can choose one or two of these suggestions - you don't have to do all of them!

Making it easier

  • Read all the exercises before you listen to the podcast.
  • Look up the words in the exercises that you don't know in a dictionary.
  • Play the podcast as many times as you need.
  • Play each part of the podcast separately.
  • Read the transcript after you have listened to the podcast.

Making it harder

  • Listen to the podcast before you read the exercises.
  • Only play the podcast once before answering the questions.
  • Play the whole podcast without a break.
  • Don't read the transcript.

Now, listen to the podcast and do the exercises on the following tabs.

Hello, mrs ghazal :)
When I started my education here, I had graduated English course. It cover B1 CEFR but I began to listen Elementary Podcasts. I didn't hurry. When I finished this section I watched Word on the street, Britan is great and now I'm listening and reading  articles in Magazine. In my opinion you won't make mistake if you start whit these series. They are interesting, if your lever is higher you will  finish with them fast, but I think they will be useful for your listening skills.

Hello umi!

First of all, relax! People often find it easier to understand than to say. To improve your speaking, look at the discussion questions on some of our pages, like the Elementary Podcasts, and think how to answer them. If you have chance, practice speaking English with classmates or friends. Keep working on it, and don't worry about being perfect – that can take years! Instead, try to get your ideas across, and don't worry too much about 100% accuracy.

Good luck!

Poor Carolina! It is terrible! I don't want to be in same situation. My English isn't very well and I'm uneasy when I have to speak with foreigners. Then I make a lot  of mistakes. I forget  a grammar and vocabulary. I feel so silly.Oh...
I lived in Plovdiv for five years. It is the second largest city in Bulgaria. I studied at Plovdiv university. When I went for the first time I was felt unbelievable. Everything were new for me - new people, new city, new friends. I was so happy.  Some friends felt homesick but i didn't understand them. In last year I understood what is homesick. I had a work, friends, different life but my family were far away. What did I do? I left work and I went back at home. I've been in my hometown since November. :) Now I'm searching work abroad and I'd like my family to comes with me:)
