Hello. I'm Paul(It's an English name.) and from South Korea.
I was wondering, how can I prepare to IELTS test?
I have still studied English in Australia recently and then come back to my country nowadays.
So I had already taken IELTS test for 4 months ago and my score was Band 4.
It was first time and score.
In my case, my speaking and listening skills are really good(teachers said me) and my former Australian teachers said me "you would study English grammar because your grammar skill is a little bit insufficient." I was still thought that my skills are insufficient.
I learn English at British Council in Korea nowadays. When can I improve my English skills? Could you counsel me please.

Hello Paul,
You should probably ask your teacher these questions - they know your strengths and weaknesses, so they can give much better advice than I can as someone who has never met you!
What score do you want to get in IELTS? What scores did you get in the different papers when you took IELTS 4 months ago?
Have you looked at all the IELTS pages on LearnEnglish and checked out the links to the British Council TakeIELTS website on the right hand side of the page?
Best wishes,
Adam

hi
I struggle to develop my vocabulary. I have a notebook and I'm writing words and sentences which inclue these words. I learn these words while searching but I don't use them in my daily life.May be I forget them to use :).What can I do?What is your advice? Is this way good for developing vocabulary?

Hello Sokrates!

It sounds like you're doing the right thing with your vocabulary learning. It's normal to take a little time to start using words as well as understanding them - some researchers estimate you need to see and practice with a word at least ten times before you use it naturally!

If you don't find yourself using them very much in your daily life, then the words are possibly not directly very useful for you - it's easier to remember words you do need frequently. If you are preparing for IELTS, try to find situations where you can practice them - by doing practice exams or talking to other IELTS students. You might also find this page about the Academic Word List useful - there are lots of links to websites with exercises for vocabulary learning.

Make sure you keep practising, though, and you'll find you do start to remember the words.

Good luck,

Hello asifbox1!

Congratulations on your HND! In answer to your question, have a look at my answer to kelvin, below. That gives some general suggestions for working on different areas of your English.

For your lack of confidence, I would say Don't worry! Almost all the students I have ever taught find talking to people in English a bit scary. Just relax, and do your best. Remember that in a lot of situations, you can think about what you need to say before you have the conversation. As I suggest below, if you know you're going to have to talk to someone, why not record and practice some of the things you are going to say?

Hope that helps!
