Hello everyone,
I'm really enjoy these series of professional podcasts. They are not only very useful for my English language, but also they are very great and informative on various field such as differences of financial approaches between my country (Iran) and other countries. The thing that I would like to point out and I learnt it on/with/by/from (I don't know the correct preposition here!) this episode. was the 'financial quarters'. As far as I know in my country most companies usually assess their financial progress on an Annual basis rather than seasonal one. This episode persuaded me to look up about other periodical financial assessments. I learnt that on most countries there are four financial quarters; Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q4 which each one consist of the three months and they name it by the name of each quarter's last month.
Q1 = March quarter
Q2 = June quarter
Q3 = September quarter
Q4 = December qarter
I really appreciate all LearnEnglish team efforts and I look forward to hearing about establishment of your branch in Iran.

Thanks so much.

Hi, thanks for the causes
In this lesson , I still don't understand some points , can you explain them for me?thx
1、'the floor will be open', what's exact the 'floor' mean?
2、Peter, is it too early to offer a little more colour on the..., what's exact the 'offer a little more colour ' mean?
thx for your help.

Hello snow_cui,

Great questions! In 1, 'the floor will be open' basically means that anyone will be able to ask questions - see the 'open space' definition of 'floor' in the Cambridge Dictionary, where you'll see an example sentence that is similar.

In 2, 'a little more colour' means 'more details' - see 'colour' (second definition).

All the best,
