Hello!
What about  the modals like may, might and ought? can they form a question tag?

Hello qweennn!

Yes, you're right, you can use the modal verbs to make question tags, just as you can with other auxillary verbs.

Hi
First of all thanks for your website. I enjoy to learn English now( even if all the British rugby teams won the French team ) and today i have a question:
I don't understand why the answer of the second question is: I'm good at this, aren't I
Why I with are because I thought it was I am, you are.
Thank you for your answer

Hello bibill38!

I'm glad you enjoy the website - despite the rugby!

In answer to your question, this is a special rule for this particular grammar structure called question tags. For negative question tags with I, we use aren't I? in modern English. Remember, though, that we still use am I? for positive question tags - I'm not going, am I? It is a little confusing, I'm afraid!

Hope that helps,

Hi there,
I have a little problem with language tasks module. No with the gramer, but with the check function button. In some tasks I can´t check my answers and so at the end I don´t how i hapend. I this case it is the task 2. Tasks 1 and 3 are ok. why i can´t check my answers?
PS: This is a great place.

Hi Camo,
In some activities the 'Check' button doesn't work because there are only two possible answers and so 'Check' is the same as 'Finish'. For those exercises you just have to use the 'Finish' button.
Best wishes,
Adam

Hello Adam.
I' ve met a problem. After watching the video, I scroll down to the the "tag questions" board  beneath. Then I scroll up to the video when it appears the white shadow which is similar to the "tag questions" board. This shadow covers partly the video and even when I change to another scene, it remains. I don't know if the problem comes from my computer or from the web but could you help me?
Thank you!

Hello Duc Tran!

That does sound a little strange. Now, I don't have that problem, so to help you, can you tell me a little bit about your computer and web connection?

  • Which web browser are you using? (Firefox, Internet Explorer...?)
  • What computer or phone are you using?
  • Have you tried any other web pages on LearnEnglish? Do you get the same problem on other Word on the Street pages, or is it only this one?
  • Do you still have the same problem if you use a different computer?

Let me know the answers, and we'll see what we can do!

Thanks,
