What is an Exercise?
Try the following task to find out more about Exercises.
Listen to the discussion between a student (S) and a lecturer (L) and use the words given to fill in the blanks. You can listen to the recording above as many times as you want and you can pause it if you need more time to put the answers into the spaces.
S: Excuse me. Can you tell me what an exercise is, please?
L: Well, it's sort of like a series of questions numbered one, two, three, four, for example. And one might be a definition. Another might be a calculation. Or you might have to describe information on a table. Little short answers, a number of little short answers.
S: So it's a bit like what you do in an exam.
L: Yes, often an exam is very much like an exercise.
S: OK. Thanks.
L: Thank you.
