The purpose of Public Engagement writing is for you to demonstrate or develop understanding and appreciation of the importance of communicating your ideas to a non-specialist readership. They may involve, for example, a leaflet, a radio talk, or a newspaper article.

In order to do this successfully, you will need to draw on your experience of a wide range of non-academic genres.

Examples of Public Engagement writing include:

  • expert information for a journalist
  • expert advice to industry
  • information leaflet
  • job application letter
  • newspaper article
