Hello,
I have a question about "get done": is that one of the famous "phrasal verbs"? Can I use is like I use "to get up"? Thank you :)

Hello chiarachi!

Get done isn't a phrasal verb - it's get + past participle. We actually use get + done in two main ways in English.

First, we use it like a passive verb structure – that is, talk about something without using the active subject when it is not important. We might say I got my hair done, rather than Somebody did (cut) my hair. Likewise, It got done = Somebody did it.

Second, we use get with done as a past participle adjective meaning “finished”, as in I’ll call you when I get done = when I am finished. You can add a prepositional phrase using with to explain what you are finishing - I’ll call you when I get done with my work. You can also insert a direct object - I’ll call you when I get my work done – but the meaning is a little different to the passive sense.

Hope that helps!

hello
i want to write english good. what should i do. help me

Hello Ghulam!

The important part of learning any language is to keep working on it. Practising writing is difficult without a teacher, but you can always try to write sentences. Many of my students like to keep a diary. Also, you can write to other learners on LearnEnglish - this will let you practice sharing your ideas. Find a subject on the website you are interested in, and join in the discussion!

Also, remember that one of the best ways of improving your writing is to read as much as you can! This will help your grammar and vocabulary without you noticing.

I can't understand this sentence "you’ve got a great sense of style."please explain it to me. Thanks you so much.

Hello Director!

'Style' here means clothing fashion. If you have a great sense of style, it means you choose clothes which are fashionable and look good on you.

Hope that helps
