Hi, Congratulations! this programme is fantastic!
My question is: can I use wanna/gonna in any situation? or if I want to be a little more polite, should I say "want to/going to", then?
Thank you!
team
Hi Ximeherre
Generally, people use more contracted language in informal situations and try to speak more clearly or 'properly' to show respect in formal situations. However, that doesn't mean that in formal situations you should say /wɒnt tu:/ for want to, or /gəʊwɪŋ tu:/ for going to.
In a formal situation, I would say /wɒntə/ and /gəʊwəŋtə/ - contracted but clear. When talking to my friends, I might not pronounce the t and say wanna/gonna.
Thanks
Jack

Hi there,
I can't get into the tasks and do excersises. I use explorer 9 and windows vista. I didn't have any problems before but since I've downloaded explorer 9, I have this issue. Please advise. Thanks
team
Hi,
There is a known problem with Internet Explorer 9, which we are working to fix. In the meantime, you should be able to make the exercises work by turning on 'Compatibility Mode'. There is a little blue icon on the right hand side of the address bar which looks like a broken piece of paper. Click it and LearnEnglish should work with IE9. You can find more information about it on the Microsoft website.
I hope that helps.
Best wishes,
Adam

absolutely!
I agree with Genmex!!!
I learnt English at school for 10 years. Then I have a one-year break and started learning English at private language school. And I can tell you that it is not so easy to find such an interesting programme as this!!!
THIS CLIPS ARE AMAZING! Now i'm on advanced level at language school now, but these short movies are very helpful! I found out lots of phrases and expressions, which are naturally British. Of course neither our teachers nor teachers from other countries, who know English and this is their native language, cannot provide such a diverse cultural accent while teaching us English. Thnak you!!
Excuse me, for messy words, but im just so excited. i looove British peple and British accent!! If only i had a chance to study English in British council! but, it's still too expensive for me..Thanx for posting these videos!!! :))))
