Elementary Podcasts are suitable for learners with different levels of English. Here are some ways to make them easier (if you have a lower level of English) or more difficult (if you have a higher level of English). You can choose one or two of these suggestions - you don't have to do all of them!

Making it easier

  • Read all the exercises before you listen to the podcast.
  • Look up the words in the exercises that you don't know in a dictionary.
  • Play the podcast as many times as you need.
  • Play each part of the podcast separately.
  • Read the transcript after you have listened to the podcast.

Making it harder

  • Listen to the podcast before you read the exercises.
  • Only play the podcast once before answering the questions.
  • Play the whole podcast without a break.
  • Don't read the transcript.

Now, listen to the podcast and do the exercises on the following tabs.

How do you feel about queuing?

If you’ve been to Britain, do you think it’s true what Tess and Ravi said – are the British good at queuing?

How about queues in your country? Do people queue up politely or do they jump the queue? Do you jump the queue?

We’d love to hear from you - write your answers in the comments.

Hi there, I agreed with Adam to improved your speaking English quickly is by practice more & regularly. Another tips from me are; besides listening to podcast program, you should also listen to radio/tv program using English language & if possible with native speaker presenter/movies; also listen to a stories but you need to be an active listener, what I meant by active listener is that there some story telling that require you to be involve in the activity by answering their question immediately & automatically; the last and I think the most effectives is communicate with native speaker as much as possible and use English in your daily life like it's your mother tounge. Good luck!

Hello Hussain,
I'm afraid that the House Rules say that you can't share personal information on LearnEnglish, including voice chat usernames, so that isn't possible at the moment.

But for an unnecessary things for example to buy some things up to date with the long queue I can't stand, I prefer something else or buy it later.

Hello! I don't mind waiting in a queue, but I hate jumping, especially in a traffic jam. But on the other side, my children don't like standing in a queue at an airport and I am very glad that people understand this and allow us to jump.

I don't like queuing. I hate them. When I go to some place and i watch a big queue in front of me I go off  if I can wait.
In my country, Spain,  there aren't tradition about queue, and a lot of people try to jump it. Specially at the bus stop.

Hello,
Perhaps you just need more time! Learning a language can take a lot of repetition and practice. You can't learn a word in one day - you have to revise it later.
