S: I know what a problem question is. It's where you've got to answer a difficult question.
L: Well, it is, but in a problem question, you're given a problem, often quite a long one, with lots of detail, and your job is to go though the process of analysing that problem so that you can give some advice to somebody who has that problem.
S: Is it like a legal problem?
L: Very often it's a legal problem, yes, and your role is to act as a legal advisor who can tell the person with the problem how they should proceed.
S: Oh, I see.
