Hello LearnEnglish Team,

In the context below, if we delete the "as", will there be any change in the meaning for the expression: "perhaps not as yet"?
Johnny: Well, no, perhaps not as yet, not exactly...

Thank you,
Gaofeng

Hello Kaofeng,

In this context you can use either 'as yet' or 'yet' with no change in meaning. I would say that 'as yet' is rather more formal.

Best wishes,

Peter

Hi Peter,

Thank you for the help. I understand now.

All the best,
Kaofeng

hello everyone! explain please, what's the difference between "I’ll bring them over to you" and "I’ll bring them to you"

Hello igrik_n,

In most contexts there is very little difference. 'Bring' has the widest meaning, I would say, and can be used in any context. 'Bring over' suggests that the person or people receiving the items has a fixed location, temporary or permanent: an office, a house, a table in a restaurant etc. to which the person doing the bringing can move.

Best wishes,

Peter

hi everyone!
" they can get to know you, and see what you’re like ". I don't understand that sentence. why did you write " what you're like"? I think we must write " what you like", right?
thank you so much for your help.
