Tom’s tip for speaking about birthdays: In social terms, when a child becomes an adult, they stop wanting to have presents on their birthdays. This, of course, is not true. But it does mean that we have to pretend that we don't want presents, and when we give them, we have to make them look not very important.

Respected Team.
The Learn English.
I never understand, that where will I found all the reading materials, where there I will read all; I have to listen now and what I listen in Port card one,
You all are really doing a great work.

Hello Anwar Ali,

If you click on Instructions & downloads, which is below the audio player, you should be able to see a couple of pdfs. These pdfs contain the Transcript and the six exercises. We provide them in pdf format for people who can't access the exercises or who want to print them on paper.

Other than these pdfs, which only replicate what is said in the audio and what you find in the exercises, there is nothing additional to read for the Elementary Podcasts. If you're looking for texts to read, I would recommend the Magazine.

All the best,
Kirk

I like Ukrainian food. It is tasty and simply. In my every days cooking I like to use vegetables, fish, chicken and spices. I prefer roasted food. And I like to drink black coffee without sugar.

I`d like write about my hobby. My hobby is knitting. It is very popular hobby. A lot of women and some men do it. I started to knit when I was a child. My aunt Mary taught me. One thing I really like about is that you can give a new life to old thing. Knitting is interesting and relaxing.

Hi I'm Malvina

I am making good use of Chris Roses's short stories like Ali Goes to University, Alberto's New Neighbours, A Perfectly Fair Business Deal and the Golden Boys in my Extensive Reading classes. My students enjoy reading them.

Thanks. I personally like those texts and when I ask my University Preparatory Program students to say, for example, why they like or dislike Ali (ALI GOES TO UNIVERSITY), they develop their oral production skills. They even continue the discussion outside the classroom. The group work is always lively!

Hello aliefe.ble.emmanuel,

That sounds like an ambitious, creative and engaging set of texts. Thanks for sharing that!

Best wishes,

Peter
