But it does mean that we have to pretend that we don't want presents, and when we give them, we have to make them look not very important.

hi Jack,
please correct me my mistakes;)
I am tunisian women and Iam very happy to study in british council here in tunisia, all employee of british council are wonderful. GOD protect them.
I have a problem in english: I when someone talk in english I understand him very well but I can't express my self and when I wrotr any think in english I have a big problem to find the words:). I feel that I translate my ideas from arabic to english and I hate doing that, it is not professional. I need your help please.
thank you a lot Jack.
have a good times ;).

 Hello Fatima

It's great to hear that you enjoy studying at the British Council in Tunisia. I have never been but people tell me that the Teaching Centre there is very nice.

The problem you describe, trying to think of the words when you are speaking, is quite normal. It is one thing to learn a word so that you understand it but to be able to use it when you are speaking is something more difficult. It requires lots of practice.

When I was learning French at school, my teacher told me that until you have used a word, you haven't really learnt it.

I hope that you will leave us lots of comment in the future and hopefully, that way, you will get the chance to use lots of complicated language and this will help you with your fluency.

Thanks for writing

hello guys i"d like to talk about the lebanese food
i actually like  " tabbouleh"  it's the famous dishes in lebanon , it is a kind of salad
we use to make it a parslay , tomato, green onion , lemon juice and oil .....
it's very tasty and delicious and of course healthy
you have to tast it
So if I made a mistake please somebody correct it .

 Hi Kabaghdadi

I have never had the chance to visit Lebanon but there are some great Lebanese restaurants in the UK. I love tabbouleh!

RE: your mistakes

Tabbouleh is a famous Lebanese dish.

You have to taste it. Or, You have to try it. (I think that's how I would say it).

Lastly, don't forget to use full stops at the end of sentences and capital letters at the beginning.

Thanks for commenting.

My favourite food is Korean food because is spicy and mix some different flavours, and it is a very healthy food.

I have two hobbies, first one is knitting and the other one is dancing flamenco.

I learned to knit four years ago, when I started to study fashion design in 2007. I finished six semesters, in each one you have to knit. Now I knit on weekends to make clothe for my friends and me.
In the same month I took may grade to fashion designer, I started to take dancing classes, there are flamenco dancing since then I have one year taking my classes. At the beginning I was not able to dance, because is difficult to coordinate your foot, head, arms and hands all in deferens times. A year later, I am able to dances four “Sevillanas “and I am learning  “Fandangos”.
I love my hobbies because both of them taught me that you have to practice very much and be disciplined to make it well.
