Tom’s tip for speaking about birthdays: In social terms, when a child becomes an adult, they stop wanting to have presents on their birthdays. This, of course, is not true. But it does mean that we have to pretend that we don't want presents, and when we give them, we have to make them look not very important.

hello i reseach from girl who is  learning arabic and teach me english and i am ready for any thing but she must be brtish or excellant english please...............

Dear Jack,
Please correct me, if I'm wrong.
Subject: I'd like to talk about
I would like to tell you about my hobby. My hobby is collecting postcards.
I like collecting postcards; and it is common hobby, a lot of people are collecting the postcards hoppy and they exchanging the postcards between together.
I started collecting postcards when I was seventeenth, it was when I received the first postcard from my colleagues for coagulating me for my 17th Birthday, it was really fantastic and interested postcard.
Collecting postcard is very easy, excited and interesting hobby; it's really amazing hobby because it's described the most important landmarks in each counties and cities.
Best Regard.

 Hi Abdullatif

You write well and have made few mistakes. I think that collecting postcards from around the world sounds like a great hobby.

One mistake that I think you can probably correct yourself is in this line:

a lot of people are collecting the postcards

When we talk about hobbies, we talk about things we do normally and so we use the present simple. I would have written:

A lot of people collect postcards; or lots of people have the same hobby as me.

Another little mistake you make is in this line:

it was really fantastic and interested postcard.

English has really awkward rules about articles so I won't try to explain why (perhaps someone else will). I would have written:

It was a really fantastic and interesting postcard.

As I said before, you write well. You have used a good range of vocabulary.

I hope my corrections are useful.

Hi Jack,
Thanks alot for your comments, it is realy appreciated and helpful.
Thanks again for you and your LearnEnglish Team.
As always, your assistance in this matter will be very helpful to improve my English.
Best regards.

My favourite food is chinese because I like a lot of rice and spices.
However, my favourite chinese dish is Shanghai pasta and doesn't have any rice.
I like a lot of this dish because it has a wonderful combination of pasta, shrimp, soy sauce and other ingredients.
The taste is magnificent.
I eat this dish at least six times a year.
