Hey,
For my comments, the video is very great, we can learn so many new words and sentences, but I want to say the speaking speed is too fast for those who like me is a new English learner.

Thanks!
Simon

Hell Simon Kwan57,

It's great that you're finding the series useful. The language here, in terms of speed, is quite natural, and that can be difficult at first. However, speed is something that you can get used to. Try listening to the episode with the transcript after you have done the exercises; it can be a great way to get used to deciphering rapid speech.

If the speed is still too fast then perhaps you might find the Elementary Podcasts series more suitable for you. Series 3, especially, is a little slower than this, and might suit your level better (http://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/en/elementary-podcasts).

I hope that helps you.

Best wishes,

Hello Peter,

Thanks for your reply and gave me so good suggestion, I have finished the listening for the part I and part II of the Elementary Podcasts, and now is the part III . As my vocabulary is so less, it decreases my learning speed. please advise what's your suggestion to improve this part. For me, I usually forget the new words after a couple of days.

Thanks in advance!
Simon

Hi Simon,

The key to expanding your vocabulary is making frequent contact with the words you want to learn. You can do this in many ways. One way is to write down words or expressions that you want to remember and then simply review this list once a day for a couple of weeks. It's best to also write down a short definition and/or example sentence for each word or expression.

Following Peter's advice, you could, for example, listen to this video once, and then listen to it again with the transcript. Then you could review the transcript and select some words and expressions that you want to learn. Don't choose more than about 10 at a time. Then make a list of these words and write down the sentences they occur in. Review this list frequently for a week or two. I expect that you will find that you remember a lot of them.

In the beginning, it's slow work, but it gets easier, and the rewards are great because a richer vocabulary will help you in all the language skills.

Good luck and please let us know how it goes!

Best wishes,

Kirk

Hello ellen64,
Thank you for your nice comment!  It's great to know that people like our site and find it useful.
I'm afraid that not all of our videos are available for download, for technical and legal reasons, but it is possible that this video (and/or the audio file) will be available in the future.  However, you can download the transcript so you can watch and read, or read it when you are not online.
Thanks again and good luck with your learning!
Best wishes,
