Camden Scene 1

Stephen and Ashlie realise they have quite similar ideas about what their Mum would like, but Ashlie soon gets distracted from the task in hand!

Do the Preparation task first. Then watch the video. Next go to Task and do the activity. If you need help, you can read the transcript at any time.

Good Morning!
Stephen asked Ashlie 'How did you get on' in a short way but I didn't get what he said.
Would you mind if I ask you to write down what Stephen asked Ashlie?
Thank you Very much.

Hello josenildolins,

You can see the full transcript for the episode by clicking on the word 'Transcript' on the page. You can find it just below the tasks and above the comments section.

Yes I do. However our market is not as big as the Camden Lock Market.

Yes, I do. Once, I bought a Book in a market in my city, Bogotá, Colombia. The markets in my country are a little bit smaller than markets in Britain.

hey guys I am new on group

i have big problem i can't understand english it look like i am writing something else and listening a strange language it really a challange for me. someone help me to prove listening power. how?

Hello Rizwan Masood,

I can't really give you individual advice because I don't know your strengths and weaknesses in this area - that would be a job for your teacher. However, I can give you some general suggestions. FIrst, remember that practice makes perfect. Don't give up even if progress seems slow! Second, use the transcript to help you. Listen and read the transcript. Don't worry about understanding every word but pay attention to how the words are connected in fast speech. After you've listened two or three times try listening without the transcript. Third, try reading aloud while listening. This will help to speed up your speaking (because you will need to try to keep up with the recording) and also help you to get used to listening to fast speech.

I hope those suggestions are helpful.

Hello
My English level is ranging from B1 to B2
I have been studying English for a long time this is really disappoint me
How can I improve my English(general advise)?
How can I use this website to improve my English ?
I finished words on the street and listened to some podcast .Also I started reading grammar topics .They really helped me
Thanks in advance

Hello Marwa1083,

It's not unusual for people to feel a lack of progress when they reach intermediate levels such as B1/B2. At the beginning everything is new and we can see everything we learn: new words, new structures, new topics etc. Once we reach a higher level there is less new material and more improvement of what is already (partially) known. Progress is still made but it is less obvious and seems slower.

It's hard for me to give you any specific advice as I don't know your particular strengths and weaknesses, your needs and your circumstances but I can direct you to some general advice. For suggestions on how best to use this site take a look at this page. For advice on specific areas of English look here. You can also look at the British Council page for your country, where you'll find information on courses as well as other activities and events.

Don't give up! Progress may sometimes seem slower than we would like but just because we cannot see it so clearly it does not mean that it is not happening.

Best wishes,

Peter
