Stephen and Ashlie realise they have quite similar ideas about what their Mum would like, but Ashlie soon gets distracted from the task in hand!

Do the Preparation task first. Then watch the video. Next go to Task and do the activity. If you need help, you can read the transcript at any time.

Language level

Intermediate: B1

Hi everyone I like doing shopping. I usually go to the mall and market. There are lots of mall and shopping in my country. But they are diffrent from british

My English level is ranging from B1 to B2
I have been studying English for a long time this is really disappoint me
How can I improve my English(general advise)?
How can I use this website to improve my English ?
I finished words on the street and listened to some podcast .Also I started reading grammar topics .They really helped me
Thanks in advance

Hello Marwa1083,

It's not unusual for people to feel a lack of progress when they reach intermediate levels such as B1/B2. At the beginning everything is new and we can see everything we learn: new words, new structures, new topics etc. Once we reach a higher level there is less new material and more improvement of what is already (partially) known. Progress is still made but it is less obvious and seems slower.

It's hard for me to give you any specific advice as I don't know your particular strengths and weaknesses, your needs and your circumstances but I can direct you to some general advice. For suggestions on how best to use this site take a look at this page. For advice on specific areas of English look here. You can also look at the British Council page for your country, where you'll find information on courses as well as other activities and events.

Don't give up! Progress may sometimes seem slower than we would like but just because we cannot see it so clearly it does not mean that it is not happening.

Best wishes,

The LearnEnglish Team

By the way, I want to ask if there are any categories on this website for learners who need help or help others or we can discuss the topics about skills and tips that make the English better

Hello Vũ Quốc Oai,

I'm afraid we don't have a section like that, but you're welcome to write to other users here in the comments. You might also want to visit our Facebook page, where there is a lot of interaction like this.

All the best,
The LearnEnglish Team

I am learning American English pronunciation for my studies but it's dificult for me to find the resourses which include videos, instructions and references describing exactly how to make sounds and how to speak American English correctly.
Can you help me?

Hello Vũ Quốc Oai,

I'm afraid I'm not all that familiar with what is available online beyond the Voice of America. You can also hear the pronunciation of individual words in most online dictionaries (e.g. Cambridge). Have you tried doing an internet search for "learn American English pronunciation"? There are bound to be lots of results and I expect at least some of them could be useful for you. You might also find something on our Facebook page or perhaps another user there would have some good suggestions.

Good luck!

All the best,
The LearnEnglish Team

Thank you very much, Kirk!

Well I am from colombia, I have bought presents in different markets, some of them are similar like this but not so big.

I'm from Malaysia. A lot of markets here. Not exactly like Britain but seem like that. Hige and a lot of options that we can choose from clothes, bags, shoes and etc. we can choose either cheap or expensive. I don't really like shopping but I love to find something in the markets sometime.
