Thank you Jeremy Bee!
hello
It's very useful for study English everyday. Thanks
Help me with this sentence:
Despite all my efforts, I will not have the report ready by Friday.
? Why i cant use making all my efforts ... instead?
Thanks
Actually, you can use both :). Let's remember about this grammar
Despite + N/ , Clause --> "making all my efforts" is a GERUND ( V-ing), so it can used as a noun, too
that,s nice
Two questions:
1) What the difference is between answering the question "What on earth are you wearing?" as:
You look really strange vs You look so strange
2) What does it means fair as appearance? Blond hair - beautiful woman according with the dictionnary. It thought this word was classified as character instead of appearance...
Thanks!
Hello MayelaM!
In answer to 1), I think both of these are OK, and mean the same thing - 'You look very strange'.
2) Your dictionary is right! Fair has several meanings. When talking about appearance, it means light coloured, not dark - so someone with blond hair has fair hair. Fair meaning beautiful is a bit old fashioned these days.
Hope that helps!
Jeremy
