,which means she doesn't want any drinks for now ?

I understood small beers mean water, but how about large beers?

when you order  a glass of beer in Pub, do you need to mention the size ?

Hello,

Yes, she doesn't want any drinks for now. 'Small beer' doesn't mean water now, that was only in the past. These days, you need to say what size of beer you want in a pub, so that's when people say 'small beer' or 'large beer'.

I hope that helps.

Best wishes,

Adam

Thanks Carmen, Ashlie, Stephen, Rob and all involved in the making of ‘Word on the Street’. My students and I have very much enjoyed the scenes, and found the language focus useful too!
