Is it a good idea for celebrities to do work for charity?
Yes, I think so. I believe that charity and help the poor is an absolutely excellent idea and as for the rich and famous ones especially for celebrities that's a good idea. They might help the poor and might work for charity just for their reputation and publicity in order to show off, and they also might use those charities to be much more be loved and to attract much more attention but it's not important, at all, the most important point is that the poor need help and support. The poverty is a big problem in any society and it is a major cause of any critical situation and disaster and corruption. Economy is so important in any society. A poor country has a lot of different chaos and so many difficulties, so it's so necessary that the rich ones help the poor and that’s the reason why this is a good idea for celebrities try to do work for charity. I if charity is always considered as a hidden art, people might not help the poor consequently the poor might be ignored.
Dear British council team , so many thanks to you. I really appreciate you for your absolutely fantastic site.

I think it is a good thing for celebrities to do work for charity.Because they usually have a lot of fans and their fans admire them ,take them as models.A fine example has boundless power,so celebrities doing work for charity can have a good influence on society.

I think this is a good idea for celebrities to do work for charity. Nowadays, many people follow celebrities and celebrities are a hero to many people. If celebrities do charity, their works become an inspiration for many others. We can't never know people's real purpose to do charity, but it can spread the good works in society.

Section 2. I'd like to meet Winston Churchill. He's a very interesting great person. I've read some his memoirs. It would be very interesting for me to take part in his press conference and listen to his speech.
Section 4. There's a squirrel's park in our town. It isn't very large, but very cozy and clean. A lot of people walk here. I have never seen squirrels there, but I think they live there, but they hide from people.
Section 5. I think that an idea for celebrities to do work for charity is good. But I also think that it isn't solution to the problem.

I am new in this Website. it is amazing and good way to learn

I am a Chinese, and I didn't catch what the chicken joke means, maybe there are some different culture between our countries, can anybody tell me what's the joke means?

Hello Leason,

In English, we say that a chicken says 'bock, bock' or 'cluck, cluck' and that a frog says 'ribbet'. In the joke, the chicken says a word that sounds similar (book) and the frog says a phrase that sounds similar (read it). The joke is supposed to be funny (I say 'supposed to be' because I agree with Tess that it's a bad joke) because it suggests that what these animals say have meanings in English!

All the best,

'I'm intending to finish my English homework tonight."

Hello wedyan,

There are no errors in that sentence. Whether or not it is appropriate or makes sense will depend on the context, of course.
