Historically, Kazakhs were nomads with flocks of sheeps and herds of horses in steppes. Dogs are very important to watch sheeps over wolfs. Kazakhs use especial dogs - tazy - for foxhunting - it is national kind of hunting like in Britain. Cats weren't such popular. Kazakhs have such old parable: a man after death went to heaven with his dog and his cat. Angel asked man about his life and then asked dog - how man handled with it: did he feed in time, care etc. Dog answered: "yes, he did". Then angel asked cat this question. Cat said: "I don't remember, may be did, may be didn't". Cats don't remember good, therefore when you feed a cat, yoy should be hit it - for memory".
But now people are not nomads and many proplr have dogs and cats. I live in flat so I haven't cat or dog. I think, dogs shouldn't live in flat - they need run in yard. But in general i like cats because they are selfish, intelligent and beautiful. But dogs are faithful. I'm not an animal lover.

I'd like to meet Denis Ten. He is from our country - Kazakhstan, but he is Korean (our Korean, from USSR). He is single figure scater. He is young, 21 years old, but this year he received bronze medal on Olympiad in Sochi - it is first medal of Kazakhstan in figure scating - usually we receive medals including gold in box - in 2012 in London Serik Sapiyev received gold medal and Val Barker Trophy (I like him too), earlier this Trophy received Vasiliy Zhirov in 1996 and Bahtiyar Artrayev in 2004, wrestling. In this winter Olympiad Ten's medal was only-begotten and first in figure scating. He is polite young man, he trains a lot including abroad, he isn't married. I like him because he is gifted and hard-working sportsman. Figure scating is expencive kind of sport, in our country, unfortunetaly, state or sponsors don't support on proper level. His parents found all themselve money for his training and development. He organised ice-show in Kazakhstan - popular world figure ice-scaters came for performance "Denis and his friends"

hi! i couldn't understand that why did Carolina say "I just wanted to meet you all before I went to bed."? i think she can use simple present at this sentence!! Can somebody explain to me about that?
thank you so so much!

Hi Timothy,

At the time of speaking, Caroline has met them, and so 'wanting' to meet them was in the past. You can think of the sentence as being equivalent to:

'I didn't go to bed (past) because I wanted (past) to meet you all, but now I have met you (present perfect for present result) I will go to bed (decision).'

I hope that helps to clarify it for you.

Best wishes,

Peter
