Elementary Podcasts

It's the end of Series 4! Carolina tells Emily she’s going to miss her while she studies in France. But will she be missing Jamie too? What’s Jamie going to do? Jo and Adam look at different ways of speaking about the future. It’s goodbye until the next series!

Elementary Podcasts are suitable for learners with different levels of English. Here are some ways to make them easier (if you have a lower level of English) or more difficult (if you have a higher level of English). You can choose one or two of these suggestions - you don't have to follow all of them!

Making it easier

  • Read all the exercises before you listen to the podcast.
  • Look up the words in the exercises that you don't know in a dictionary.
  • Play the podcast as many times as you need.
  • Play each part of the podcast separately.
  • Read the transcript after you have listened to the podcast.

Making it harder

  • Listen to the podcast before you read the exercises.
  • Only play the podcast once before answering the questions.
  • Play the whole podcast without a break.
  • Don't read the transcript.

Now, listen to the podcast and do the exercises.

Hello I will miss Carolina and friends and my favourite episodes is all the episodes of Carolina I will miss Tess,Ravi,Adam and Jo
Thank you so much and make series 5 please And I want to say to Emily best of luck in France Thank you so much.

i am a modern language studies student, of open uni, who speaks german as school language and english going to do my graduation in ba(honors) modern language studies. i am presently attending a cambridge uni advanced english course at college to incorporate it into my foundation studies.

All these goodbyes and farewells make me feel a little bit sad. But thank you, Carolina, Emily, Jamie, Tess, Ravi, Adam and Jo for this wonderful series. I have learnt so much from it.

I like every episode in this series, but I like the episode in which Carolina and Emily were studying in the library the most, because, like them, I used to count down to my coffee breaks as well, and I sometimes wanted to say the same thing like the male student said in the episode to other noisy students.

All the best to everyone in LearnEnglish team. Hope I can hear from Elementary Podcasts soon.

I preferred the series 1 and 2 because Tess an Ravi talked more and in my opinion it was better to have a 30 minutes podcast. I miss the jokes, long conversations between Ravi and Tess, the quiz, anyway, I don't think Adam and Rob much charismatic, I prefer Ravi and Tess.

Hello LearnEnglish Team!
I agree with melissabeff. I think first series of Elementary Podcasts were more interesting. I liked Tess&Ravi's dialogues, Gordon's jokes, quizes and stories about different famous people. May be you will turn back to this format?

I agree as well. The new format is a little boring...

Isn't it inconvenient and confusing?
Could you tell me why?
In the Tasks 6 and 8 boxes for answers are placed above the questions.
Hello LearnEnglish Team!

Hello krig,

Thanks for telling us what you think about this. Our technical team is developing a new version of the exercises and I believe the new version will improve this, so in the future this should be clearer.

All the best,
The LearnEnglish Team

Let's face the truth... Actually English language hasn't the "Future Tense". I mean the English verb in the Future Tense hasn't the specific morphological characteristics... That's why people try to express Future Tense with a various auxiliary words... And this is true for all Scandinavian languages and even Russian... Maybe the harsh conditions of the Northern nature did not allow people to think about the far future? Perhaps people lived in the present, and this was reflected in their language.

Hello everyone,
I like all the podcasts of adventures of Carolina and her friends.
She keeps me in suspence and the curiosity about the future of Carolina stimulates me to continue this adult english course and to learn english vocabulary and grammar.
I like episode 6, series 4, when Carolina saw Emily's boyfriend Cameron kissing another woman.
I like your comments about "tell or not tell the truth to Emily?" It is very hard to answer when we'are dealing with people's feelings.
I think your request for comments helpful for us to improve writing.
I look forward to listen series 5.
Thank for helping me to improve my English.
See you soon.
