Task 2

Trifle Notes:

A trifle is a dessert dish made from thick (or often solidified) custard, fruit, sponge cake, fruit juice or, more recently, jelly (jello), and whipped cream.

These ingredients are usually arranged in layers with fruit and sponge on the bottom, and custard and cream on top.

Some trifles contain a small amount of alcohol such as port, or, most commonly, sweet sherry or madeira wine. Non-alcoholic versions use fruit juice instead, as the liquid is necessary to moisten the cake.

A trifle is often used for decoration as well as taste, incorporating the bright, layered colours of the fruit, jelly, jam, and the contrast of the creamy yellow custard and white cream.

Trifles are often served at Christmas time, sometimes as a lighter alternative to the much denser Christmas pudding.

Oh, I've never seen and tried trifle!
Yes, I have a sweet teeth. ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ
My favorite dessert is Mont Blanc.

I'd love to use this with my adult English learners but we have no internet access where I teach so I have to download videos. Unfortunately, I can't load this video to my pc. Can you help please? Thank you in advance!

Hello Fiona SW France,

I'm afraid our videos are not available for download for legal reasons. All of our audio-only content (for example, LearnEnglish podcasts, Big City Small World) is available for free download.

I'm sorry not to be able to help you with this!

All the best,

I haven't tried it either, but I would like to taste it. I love sweets and my favorite one is lemon pie.

I haven't eaten the trifle itself before, but my mother used to make for us a similar dessert with biscuit instead of sponge cake.

Yea, I like trifle very much. It is light and delicious. I'm not a sweet tooth I prefer salty food to sweets in general . My favorite dessert is pan cakes with chocolate.

I don't have tasted Trifel yet, but I will, because I like to try other kinds of food, even when I feel I don't like them. I prefer desserts or cakes not too sweet, so my favorite dessert is dark chocolate cream expecially if spread on the cakes like plumcake.

i had eaten trifle..i don't have a sweet tooth
my favorite desert is smothe

I have never eaten trifle, my favourite dessert is pan de calatrava, it is made with eggs, milk, cupcake, lemon rind , cinnamon and sugar. It taste delicious.

I've never eaten trifle, but I ate very similar cake. It was layer of sponge cake, sprayed by alcoholic drink (the mixture of tea, lemon and alcoholic of course). On that, it could be a layer of cream (mixed eggs, butter, and fruits) or custard or whipped cream whatever you like. The surface layer was jelly and fruits. It tastes good. I think everybody likes desserts but somebody loves sweet deserts and the others love desserts just like a big piece of fried meat. I like both of them.
