Hello,

There is a box at the right of the screen called 'Cambridge Dictionaries Online' where you can look up words and phrases. If you type 'fingers crossed' into that box and click 'Look it up', you will see a definition.

If you have any questions after you've looked at the definition, please let us know.

Best wishes,

Hello Adam!
I did look it up as your instruction. I wonder why Cambridge Dictionaries says: "cross your fingers" in it example: "It's her exam this morning so cross your fingers."
Many thanks!

Hello, Loan!

'Cross your fingers' is a verb phrase. The speaker wants you to 'cross (verb) your fingers' to hope for a good result for her exam. When we say fingers crossed (noun + adjective), it is short for 'keep your fingers crossed'. This is another way of saying 'Cross your fingers'. Hope that helps!

Hi!
I am going to try answering the questions
While Ashlie was doing her exam, Stephen decided to have a look around Oxford.

  • Where do you think he goes to find out more about Oxford?

According to photo I think he is going to find out Oxford's cathedral and historical monuments
He meets some students sitting by the river.

  • What do you think they talk about?

I think he will speak with the students about exams and he will ask at what time it finished.
He decides to do something special for Ashlie.

  • What do you think he is going to do?

I think he is going to invite her to eat in a Oxford's tipical restaurant.

 very funny !!!!!

It;s nice history. I"m understaunt almost the all and I'm very happy about it.
I'm doing exercise, but I find in one of task the same answers. I thing.

I've been to Oxford once, it's historical and so beautiful. The best thing I like more about it, because of the overseas students, it feels more  multi cultural, you see different nationalities and lots of nice restaurants,Spanish,Italian, portuguese,Chinese,Iranian, you name it. It's absolutely magnificent. and also the city centre which reminds me of covent garden in London.
