Listen to an extract of an interview with a professor of Business Studies about the subject of motivation.

Do the Preparation task first. Then listen to the audio. Next go to each Task and do the activity. If you need help, you can read the transcript at any time.

Hello everyone, I just joined to this web and I have to say that I really enjoy it. actually I´m working in a team of 14 people as a leader and this topic has gave me a couple of ideas of how can motivate my staff, I´m gonna start by improve a good communication with all of them. secondly try to find out a recognition in each one on my coworkers. If I had realized this simply things probably I would have had a better profits.

Thank you so much for your time and I hope have written in right way

i wish if you guys could add me on whats app or we can communicate more...

Hello kunalromp,

It's great that you are so keen to practise your English!  However, please remember the House Rules here on LearnEnglish, which ask members not to post or request personal information such as email addresses, Skype names etc.  This is because we have members of different ages and so must be careful with personal data, as I'm sure you understand.

Best wishes and good luck in your learning,

The LearnEnglish Team

Thank you
i can't understand how i will start.
Please Help Me
Best wishes

Hi Mizan,

There's no one way to use the materials here on LearnEnglish.  You can pick and choose what you need or what seems most helpful or interesting to you, and use the materials in any order.  Because of that, my first suggestion would be to explore the site.  Use the links at the top of the page to go to different sections and see what kinds of materials are available.  Get a feel for the level of difficulty of different sections so you can see what will be most useful to you at the moment.

After that, start with something that is not too high a level. Many users find Elementary Podcasts Series Three a good place to start.  Work through the episodes, and remember that you can use the transcript to help you, or to read and listen to at the same time after you have done the exercises. As you work, it's important to keep a vocabulary notebook. Organise it by topic ('work', 'family', 'food', etc.) and add words and phrases to it as you go through the material.  Test yourself regularly to see if you remember the words.

Finally, practise English every day, even if it's only for 10 minutes. You can study the vocabulary you've recorded, listen to an Elementary Podcasts episode again, or if you have a friend who is also learning English, practise speaking with them. You can also practise by yourself, just speaking English when you are alone at home or at work.  This kind of practice is great for developing fluency in speaking, so that when you need to use English in the 'real' world you are ready and confident.

I hope those suggestions are helpful.

Best wishes and good luck,

The LearnEnglish Team

Thank you Kirk your instruction worked perfectly now i can download any file. Thanks again. I have no idea about syllable and diphthongs. Would you like to help me?
Can i download Cambridge dictionary?

hi dear team! I am learning many different things on this website. I really appreciate this charity work for welfare of people in the world. Now i want to use this website in my school especially for kids. Dear team there is a problem with audio podcasts that i can not download podcasts on my computer. When i want to download it starts in audio version. So please help me to download these audio files. Support packs really help to learn many things in printed form. Before using this website my english was worst but i feel now much better than past. Now i communicate with fluency.

Hello imran ali7,

You're of course welcome to use LearnEnglish with children, but depending on their age, you might find LearnEnglish Kids or LearnEnglish Teens more appropriate for them. I'd recommend you take a look at those two sites to see if they might be useful for you.

As for downloading the audio on this page, you have to "right-click" on the link. This means that you must use the other button on your mouse, the one that you don't normally use. After clicking on the button on the right (not left) side, you should see an option to "save file" (or something similar). When you select that, the podcast should start downloading.

If that still doesn't work, please let us know what happens. It'd also be useful to know what operating system you're using, and what browser so that we can give you more specific instructions.

Best wishes,

The LearnEnglish Team
