Hello ,My name is Umar Khan, i cant speak English very well any one help me out in this regards,

Hello Umar Khan,

Speaking can be difficult at first but with practice you can improve.  Firstly, think about how you might practise.  For example, perhaps you have a friend or colleague who is also learning English who can be your practice partner.  Even if this is not possible, you can practise by yourself, as I do when I am learning a foreign language.  Speak to yourself at home in English, describing what you are doing and thinking.  It's surprising what a difference this can make to your confidence and fluency.

Secondly, listen to as many models of good English as possible.  The Listen & Watch section of LearnEnglish has a great number of recordings to choose from, all with tasks to help you to focus on the most important aspects and with transcripts so you can read as well as listen, and then practise saying the text along with the recording, helping you to develop fluency and speed.

I hope these suggestions are helpful.  Good luck!

Hi my name is somjai. Iam thai nationality im am looking to study English in uk as I can speak English and vary bad
In writhing in will live in amersham can eny one tell me what do I need to be prepare for my learning class and where is the best places to go for thx kaaaaaa

Hi somjai,

Is there any particular aspect of English that you'd like to improve on? I'd recommend that you choose a few specific goals - it will be easier to work towards those.

I would suggest that you start with the Elementary Podcasts and Big City Small World. Listen to the audio first. If you don't understand it, then listen to the audio while reading the transcript. There will probably be a lot of new vocabulary that you can study, and you can also imitate the pronunciation of words and expressions. This should also help you get used to hearing English. The Elementary Podcasts also have lots of exercises that can help you practice your English in many ways.

Good luck!

Hello, my name is Masuma. I want to prepare for IELTS exam. I am weak in writing skill. please give me some information to improve this skill.
Thank you

Hello Masuma,

The pages here in Writing for a Purpose are especially useful for academic English, but the pages on Essays and Proposals might also be useful for preparing for the IELTS. What you should really take a look at is our IELTS section and at TakeIELTS, which has lots of great information and tips on all aspects of the IELTS, including writing.

In general, you should try to write as often as you can. If you can find a teacher who can help you with difficult points and give you advice, that will also be a great help. Finally, it's important to read a lot in English as well. Notice how different texts you read are organised, and what words are used to show the writer's sequence of thoughts. You should also of course pay attention to vocabulary and spelling in general so as to improve your own.

Good luck!

Best wishes,

hello , my name is Mayssa I would like to improve my English language in order to reach my goal, which is to speak correct English without any mistakes ,and to improve my skills in writing especially literary writings, I wish ommitting all my language problems and I want some one helps me to do it

Hi Bella,

The best way to improve your writing is to write as much as you can. To reach a goal as lofty as yours, you should also try to find a teacher who can help you. We would be happy to answer occasional specific questions, but unfortunately don't have the resources to provide individualised feedback on users' writing - we are just too small a team to be able to do that.

It's also a good idea to read as widely as you can in English. Since you mention literature, it'd probably be best for you to read as much literature in English as you can. Pay attention as you read, and you could even record turns of phrases or ideas that you particularly liked in a notebook to help you remember them.

Good luck!

Best wishes,

Kirk
