I will be an active member from today and hope i will get better result in another six months. Please someone correct me if anything wrong in the sentence formation and grammatical mistakes.

Hi Manikandan Jayaprakash,

Welcome back to LearnEnglish! Sometimes it's hard to see our progress in learning, especially when we are at an intermediate level - it's easy to see progress at the beginning, but it can be frustrating later on. Keep going - you will make progress, even if it is hard to see at first.

We don't correct users' posts in the comments sections, I'm afraid. Please remember that we have many many thousands of users who post comments and it is not possible for us to correct them - if we tried then we would have no time for anything else. We do read every comment, however, and answer those questions which we can.

Best wishes,

Peter

Hi Peter,
I am a new member. I’m from Quangbinh, Vietnam where needs ten hours to go to Hanoi. May country has English education system is not good. I have learn English for twenty years but now I am still as a beginner. All my English skills are bad, in particular, my hear skill is very very bad so I couldn’t talk with foreign people.
Eight months ago, I approached effortless English (An English study which is wrote by AJ hope, an America professor ) and I have been studying to now. After eight months studying, I feel my skills have improved but not much. I think my problem is I don’t have real English environment, so how hard I try to learn and learn and… I could not improve my English.
Could you give me any suggest? Do I still study effortless English program or change to another one? To be totally and honest, I’ll be very happy with your feedback.

Hello xuanthuong,

First of all, welcome to LearnEnglish – we're very glad you found us and that you took the time to write a comment here.

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with Effortless English, and in any case, we don't generally make recommendations about external books or courses. It sounds as if a class at the British Council in Vietnam is not an option for you, but fortunately there is a lot you can do with our site.

I'd suggest you read the advice on improving your speaking and vocabulary on our Frequently asked questions page. Our Getting started page could also be a useful resource for you. Then I'd suggest you work through episodes 1 and 2 of Series 3 of Elementary Podcasts. Listen to each episode several times – the first time, just listen and see how much you understand. Even if you understand very little, don't worry! Choose a short section (1 or 2 minutes long) and listen to it a couple of times more, and then listen to it while reading the transcript. Use a dictionary to help you understand it and then use the advice from our Frequently asked questions page to help you improve your fluency and pronunciation. Then choose continue with another section of the podcast and do the same thing. There are also the exercises on the page or in the support pack. Be sure to write down new vocabulary, which includes not just single words but whole expressions, and study these.

With time and effort, you can learn a lot using this method – many of our users have told us this. It is a bit slow at first, but you can really progress a lot this way. After you've worked through a couple of episodes of Elementary Podcasts, compare what you learned here with Effortless English, and then choose the one that you like better.

And of course please let us know if you have any questions!

Good luck!

All the best,
Kirk

Hi Peter,
Thank you very much for the reply. I did schooling in my native language. I had an english subject But I did score only low marks. I was also one of the topper in the class expect english subject. I am struggling with english from my schooling. I am a software engineer now and working with clients. I am unable to talk to them and explain the process with english language though I am a technically sounded person.
