Hello,

Could you please explain the meaning of "as soon as breakfast is out of the way, we've got to do some work"? Does it mean "when we finish the breakfast, we need to do some work"?

Thanks a lot,
Kirsten

Hello Kirsten,

Yes, that's correct. 'to get sth out of the way' (which can be found in the Cambridge Dictionaries Online on the lower right side of this page) means to finish something, and suggests that what follows is more interesting or important, i.e. in this case, the person is eager to start work and sees breakfast as a task to be completed first.

This lesson is super!
Thanks you!

Thank you!!

Hi! I cannot understand what did Stephen mean when he said, "you can't beat fresh eggs". When i looked it up in the dictionary, the word beat means to strike something. Thank you!

Hi man.....it means mixing the eggs

Hi Aaron,

'Beat' can have several meanings. In this case, it means 'to be better than' or 'to defeat'. Stephen is saying 'there's nothing better than fresh eggs'.

I hope that clarifies it for you.
