how to achieve 7 score in writing, is it only possible with complex writing and high vocabulary or simple and error free writing will be sufficient

Hello aaaaa99,

Writing is assessed in the test according to a set of descriptors which are available here:

https://takeielts.britishcouncil.org/sites/default/files/ielts_task_1_writing_band_descriptors.pdf

For band 7, the descriptors are as follows:

Task Achievement:

  • covers the requirements of the task
  • (Academic) presents a clear overview of main trends, differences or stages
  • (General Training) presents a clear purpose, with the tone consistent and appropriate
  • clearly presents and highlights key features/bullet points but could be more fully extended

Coherence and Cohesion

  • logically organises information and ideas; there is clear progression throughout
  • uses a range of cohesive devices appropriately although there may be some under-/over-use

Lexical Resources

  • uses a sufficient range of vocabulary to allow some flexibility and precision
  • uses less common lexical items with some awareness of style and collocation
  • may produce occasional errors in word choice, spelling and/or word formation

Grammatical Range and Accuracy

  • uses a variety of complex structures
  • produces frequent error-free sentences
  • has good control of grammar and punctuation but may make a few errors

As you can see from these, it is not sufficient to produce simple, error-free language to achieve Band 7. You need to use a range of language, including complex structures and precise lexis.

Hi,
thank you so mush for this cours.

Dear Sir
In IELTS Academic writing Task one, is it a must to write the question in you own words?
Is it called paraphrasing?
Thank you.

Hello Andrew.int,

In IELTS Academic Task 1 you are asked to describe, summarise or explain information which is presented in a visual form (a chart, diagram or similar). I'm not sure what you mean by 'write the question'.

You can read more about the IELTS test on our site for people taking the test. You can find it here: TakeIELTS.

The page for the Writing paper is here.

The site has a lot of resources for IELTS candidates, including sample questions and answers. I'm sure it will be helpful for you.
