Wordshake

How many points can you get in three minutes? Longer words score more points!

Instructions

Playing Rules

You are given a random assortment of 16 letters in a 4x4 grid and are set a time limit of 3 minutes. In that time you must spell as many words as possible. The words, of course must be real words, spelt correctly as checked against the word list of 52,000 words and must contain between 3 and 7 letters. A letter cannot be used twice in the same word.

When forming your word, you can select letters from any position as long as you follow the spelling order.

Scoring

Points are awarded depending on the number of letters in the word (the "Qu" cube counts as two letters).

3 letters = 1 point 4 letters = 2 points 5 letters = 3 points
6 letters = 4 points 7 letters = 7 points

Hello gioturrini5,

Thank you for letting us know and for your suggestion!

I will make a note of this and I imagine we'll implement it if possible, though I'm afraid it will take some time if so.

By the way, I just wanted to mention that you might find our sister website LearnEnglish Teens useful as well.

Best wishes,
Kirk

The game doesn't work. It doesn't allow me to use the keyboard on my computer. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Hi msdebrahayes,

Thanks for your message. Sorry, but the game only works by clicking on the letters on the screen. It doesn't allow keyboard input, but we'll keep this in mind for future versions.

Best wishes,

Jonathan

Hello I am trying to play the workspace game online with some of my students on microsoft teams. When I share my screen they can see the blue workspace picture with the green "play" button. But the moment that I click on the button and the full-screen mode begins my students can't see it anymore. Do you have any idea what I can do? I would love to play it in my remote classes.... Best regards Elli

Hello Elli,

I'm afraid I don't know, but I'll look into this. Though I'm afraid I won't be able to do that until sometime in January. Sorry!

All the best,

Kirk

Hello, it doesn't work for me

Hello giulicosta03,

The game is working for me on my computer. I'd suggest you try updating your browser, or perhaps even a different browser or different device if possible.

All the best,

Kirk

why am I unable to play the wordshake game? Thank you.

Hello msdebrahayes,

The game appears to be working correctly on the page so I think there must be a compatibility issue.

This could be related to the hardware you are using. Some devices, such as mobile devices, cannot play certain interactive context so you might try using a different device to see if that helps.

It could also be related to your software. Check that your security settings are not blocking certain types of media.

I hope those suggestions are helpful.
