A: OK. Are you a medical doctor? It must be helpful when you sell medical equipment.

B: Actually, no. My doctorate was in electronic engineering, but it's still helpful for me when I sell our equipment.

Hi Learningenglish Team,

I would like to ask one question at A1 listening topic Business card.

"Megumi thinks her real name is difficult to say".

I heard in the listening record something like this: "Megumi thinks her name is difficult to say for people who are not from her country". In the question, it says "her real name is difficult to say", it is in general. So may I know why the answer is a "no" because I think it can be a yes as she says her name is difficult to say.

Could you explain more please!

Thanks a lot for your response!
Rosy

Hello RosyIT,

The question is about what Megumi thinks. When the question is about what Megumi thinks, she doesn't think it's difficult to say and so the answer is 'False'.

If the question was 'Megumi's name is difficult to say' or 'People think Megumi's name is difficult to say', then 'True' would be the best answer.

Megumi herself doesn't think her name is difficult to say; it's some other people who find it difficult.

It's a tricky question!

All the best,
Kirk

Hi Kirk,

Thank you for your clear explanation. It makes so much sense with the way you have explained. I definitely understand why the answer is "False" with this case.

All the best,
Rosy

Recently, in my country, business cards usually contain information such as full name (sometimes with academic title), occupation, phone/WhatsApp, email, and office address.
