Peter: Hello, is Maria Fernandez there, please?

Jane: No, I'm sorry. She's not in the office at the moment. She's on her lunch break.

Peter: Oh. Could you take a message, please? Could you tell her that Peter Griffin called?

Jane: Sure. Could you give me your number?

How often do you make phone calls in English

I haven’t made phone calls in English so far because I haven’t had any British friends, nor have I worked with any English-speaking companies

  • I don’t make phone calls very often; I remember two years ago when I had to book a room in Turkey.
  • But in the future, I'll do it more frequently.

I've  never made a phone call in English in my entire life because I don't have friends who speak in English and I  can't communicate with  a stranger confidently as well.

How often do you make phone calls in English?

I don't often make phone calls in English because I'm not confident making phone calls in English. But I also have received some calls from another person. First, I received a call from the employer have an appointment for an interview. Second, I received another call from the employer but she needed to the person have experience in that position so I failed. Third, the scammer called me to talk about something but I didn't understand what he said because I don't speak good English.

I talked on the phone in English many times when I applied for some jobs, and the HR talked with me in English, so I responded to them in English. At that time, my English was not so good, but now I am struggling to improve my English, so in the future, I will gain the confidence to make calls in English. Thanks to the British Council for arranging an interactive learning environment in which we can improve our listening and then writing through comments. Gradually, I will improve all four levels. Indeed.
