Could you please tell me if downtime is used to describe a period of time when there is now work for employees, so there temporarily don't go to work, and, consequently, don't get paid? If not, which word is suitable to describe that!
The most common use is when a machine, device or service is temporarily turned off for repairs or upgrading: It can also be used to mean a time when someone has a short break from work and takes some time to relax.
Downtime can also describe the situation you describe, when workers are unable to work because of economic conditions or other problems:
I am a systems engineer and I work for a company that specialises in software testing. My goal is to deliver high-quality software products to customers
i work as a software engineer in an office setting. My main role is developing websites and mobile applications. Although writing code for along hours is challenging,i find it very rewarding
I had several jobs like, radiology technician, housekeeping, recepcionist, cleaner and shop assistent. But I would like to work as a tour guide one day.
I’m a foreign language teacher by profession, but my academic background is in electronic engineering. Unemployment pushed me to change my career path, and teaching became my way to adapt and move forward.
I'm now a health and safety consultant, so some of my work is in the office, but I often go to my clients.
There are many jobs that I like but I think that, if it were possible, the best thing would be to change jobs every three months, or something like that.
Hello, dear teachers and team!
Could you please tell me if downtime is used to describe a period of time when there is now work for employees, so there temporarily don't go to work, and, consequently, don't get paid? If not, which word is suitable to describe that!
Thank you very much in advance!
