You and your family were amazing hosts. I had a great time at your house. Thank you for making me feel at home. I'm sure my English improved a lot because of all your help too! Also, thank you for all the wonderful cooking you did. Now I can tell everyone English food is not as bad as they say .
If you ever come to Sri Lanka, I hope you will stay with me and I can show you my city too.

Would you like to stay with a host family in a new country?
I have tried staying with a host family in a new country twice. One experience was very good, while the other was quite bad. Both of them were in Sri Lanka, so I don't think it depends on the country as much as it depends on the family you stay with.
Overall, it was a good experience. Staying with a host family gives you the chance to learn about the local culture, practice the language, and experience daily life in a way that is difficult to do when staying in a hotel.

Yes and no. If you know the family then it will be comfortable for both parties. acclimating becomes more easier as both understand their cultures. I guess it comes down to how open minded and accommodating are the host family. Initially it will be uncomfortable but few days passes. The visiting family and the host family will feel at home eventually.

Of course! I love meeting new people and cultures, and I would like to improve my English or start studying a new language. I also like cuisine, and it can also be an opportunity to try new flavors and spices.
Staying with a host family in a new country at the first day sounds terrible to me. First days are difficult to deal with. More specifically, i would need to organise my luggage, plan the period i will stay, and make paper work. For those reasons, a family in the host family would be an annoying obstacle.
