LearnEnglish Podcasts app is a series of English learning podcasts to practise your English on the go.

Available On

Listen to the British Council’s most popular English learning podcast series, LearnEnglish Podcasts, on your mobile device!

The app helps you learn everyday English by providing over 80 episodes and over 20 hours of free listening about a wide range of topics, as well as great new features that help you listen and understand the conversations.

In each episode, podcast hosts Tess, Ravi, Adam and Rob chat with different people to talk about everyday topics such as their favourite celebrities, making plans for the weekend, having a dinner party and which cities they like to live in.

Listen, read and check that you understand

In every episode, listen and read along with a moving audioscript. The audioscript gets highlighted to help you focus on listening. Comprehension questions come with each episode so that you can check your listening and whether you understand the conversation.

Features background playing and offline access

The audio plays even when the screen is turned off. You can also download episodes onto your tablet or phone and listen offline, and delete episodes after you’ve listened to them to create space on your tablet or phone. Re-download the episodes when you want to listen again.

Hi British council Team

This is pleasure to mo to know your best site . I have heard the podcast since last year and they were very helpfully to improve my listening skill. I want to say thanks all of your team . I have big problem in speaking , how can I speak fluency ? please help to improve my speaking skill.

Hello Hoseein,

Thanks for your kind words – it's always great to hear that people find our work useful! I'd suggest you follow the advice on improving your speaking on our Frequently asked questions page, which should help you improve your fluency. Focus on learning 'chunks' of language that you see and hear over and over again; memorise them and practise pronouncing them until they are easy to say, and then try to use them in your speaking. Over time, you will improve!

All the best,
The LearnEnglish Team

I really liked it... When the second edition of this pod cast is releasing... I am big fan of Tess, ravi....Gorden... Tom the teacher... I usually hears it going to school. I am from India...

Hello Sharmasumit,

We're really glad to hear that you enjoy the Elementary Podcasts. There are four series and each series has 10 or 20 episodes. Series 4 is currently in production, and episode 17 of series 4 will be published in a few days. You'll see that Tess, Ravi and Carolina are in all four series, though the other people change some.

By the way, you can also see all the Elementary Podcasts on the web here on LearnEnglish.

All the best,
The LearnEnglish Team

I am using the app since released it's amazing and helpful.

Iam used to go college, every day .is it correct

Hello Bandekallah,

No, that is not a correct sentence. You could say 'I used to go to college every day'.

Best wishes,

The LearnEnglish Team
