Hello,
I want to improve my English and know academic trends and know some international news by reading some interesting and useful or relervant to mathematic articles in magazines/book. please give me some advice. Thanks!

Hello Shiloh,

The BBC and the Guardian are two British newspapers that publish articles on a range of topics all the time and TED talks is a site where you can listen to talks on a variety of topics -- I'd encourage you to check out all of these.

I'm afraid I'm not able to recommend a place to find articles on mathematics -- I'm just not familiar with any!

All the best,

Hi,
I started to prepare for Ielts exam a few days ago. I like to know how long does it take to get band 7 in the exam, whereas my level due to this site is B1.
Regards,
Zohreh

Hello Zohreh,

I'm afraid it's very difficult to say since we don't know you. I can say that many people have to work hard to raise their IELTS mark from 6.5 to 7.0, so I'd encourage you to study and prepare as much as you can.

Have you seen my response to akhtar below? I would recommend you investigate the websites I linked to (except for the British Council in Bangladesh), as I'm sure they could be useful for you.

Good luck!

Hi, I have attended IELTS exam for three more times but unfortunately, my listening score doesn't exceed 6:0. While I practice at home (even in exam condition) I always get above 6 and sometimes 7/8. I would like to retake IELTS exam in April/May. Please help me out.

Hello akhtar,

There are a number of free, and some paid-for, resources that I can recommend to you. The first is TakeIELTS, which has free information and practice materials to help you prepare as best you can. There is also the British Council IELTS YouTube channel, where you can find resources specific to the Listening test. You might also want to consider our Listening skills section, which is not made for IELTS preparation but which has hours and hours of practice opportunities for you.

You might also want to look into a British Council course in Bangladesh or our free Understanding IELTS online course.

Good luck!

Hello Satheeshkumar,

It's great that you want to work together, but I'm afraid our House Rules don't allow you to share personal information such as you mail ID.

Good luck!

Hi! I am a beginner learning English, I do not know how to improve speaking skill and writing skill. I just concentrate on reading the book and imitate the pronunciation. I learn by heart, so that is the main reason, I speak not naturally like far-fetched. I have the full-time job, I do not have spare time so I have to make the time for self-taught at home. You can provide me some methods be able to study well affection by myself. Many thanks.

Hello Tony,

I would recommend reading our Frequently asked questions page, where you will find advice on improving both your speaking and writing. If you're preparing specifically for the IELTS, I would also recommend reading my response to another user, which has links to other useful resources.

It sounds like a British Council course would not be practical for you, but if you're interested in seeing what is available in Vietnam, you can find information on this page.

Good luck!

All the best,
Kirk
