Do you find it difficult to understand the difference between the UK and Great Britain?

Do the Preparation task first. Then watch the video. Next go to Task and do the activity. If you need help, you can read the Transcript at any time.

I needed to read the transcript to understand what they saying. Not at all. The conversation it's a little fast to me. And this question about the UK it's same very confusion. Nice vídeo.

This is my first time to listen to BBc, but its too fast to me to catch the words , what you suggest to do

Hello moniem,

Welcome to LearnEnglish!

You can find our advice on improving general listening on our Frequently Asked Questions page. For individual texts on the site you can use the transcript to help you - just look for the word 'Transcript' under the task. You can try listening several times - start with the transcript to help you and then try listening without it the second time.

I hope that advice is helpful.

Best wishes,

Hello everybody

How can I practice the acent? this is some dificult...

Hello Andres,

There is some advice on improving your speaking on our Frequently asked questions page. What it says there speaks a lot about improving your fluency, but fluency is a part of pronunciation and that method will help you improve your pronunciation/accent in general as well. Since you have to train the muscles in your mouth to move in ways that are different from the way you speak most of the time, working on pronunciation is hard work, especially at first. So be patient with yourself and keep practising – it will get easier over time!

what about Falkland islands?

Hi!! I want to know when is correct use "on it" and "in it"?

Hello Sezkely,

In general, 'on' refers to location on top of something and 'in' refers to location inside something, but there are many exceptions and other uses of these two prepositions to learn as well. For example, the prepositions to use when talking about time, dates, etc., are explained on our time and dates page. If you have a more specific question, please feel free to ask it, but in general I'd suggest you write down sentences you see with these prepositions so that you can compare how they're used as you study.

there is some problem with video. it doesn't opened..(

Hello A.G.,

The video is working for me now. Perhaps there was a momentary problem when you were trying to see it, but in any case I'd suggest you install the Adobe Flash Player on your device, even if you already have it installed. This should solve the problem. If not, please let us know.
