I've been invited to an avoidance?

What's an avoidance?

Comments

Hi daivmec,

Most jokes don't translate very well so I don't think it would help you very much! People usually dance with people they like; here the funny (absurd) thing is that it's a dance for people who don't like each other!

One other thing: please remember the House Rules (http://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/en/house-rules), which ask members not to post personal contact details such as email addresses, Skype names, Facebook names and so on.

Many thanks and best wishes,

hi there,  it seems you are an only one who understand what this joke means?  help me please, i don't know why " avoidance" can be " a dance for people who hate each other",  thanks in advance

Yes, I have the same question, who can tell me what the joke means? why the "avoidance" could be "a dance for people who hate each other"?

I have done my best to answer this - I think in a comment on page three of the comments.

Please have a look and let me know if you still don't understand.

Thanks
