What inspired Shakespeare to write? Ben Crystal continues his visit to Stratford-upon-Avon, learning about Shakespeare's education, marriage and the 'lost years' before he moved to London.

hello, can you open the videos now? because I can't open on a laptop either.

Hello Andy,

I'd also recommend you install the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player on your device if the videos are not working. This usually solves video problems. If that doesn't work, you can try using a different browser as well. After all that, if you're still having problems, please let us know what browser version you're using.

All the best,
The LearnEnglish Team

Hello huang yuening,

All of the content on LearnEnglish is free, so there is nothing to pay! Elementary Podcasts and Big City Small World are audio-only, so there are no videos there. Most of the other parts of the Listening & Watch section have video content so if you cannot see these then I can only guess that there is a local compatibility issue. Please try accessing the site with a different device (a laptop or desktop computer rather than a phone or tablet, for example) and via a different browser to see if this helps. You may also try to check any security measures you have in place such as firewalls or connection monitors to see if they are blocking content.

Best wishes,

The LearnEnglish Team

Will Shakespeare is one of my favourit writer and he was inspired by the nature and landscape of his town. I m inspired by the winter sea or a wonderful scenery from the top of the mountain.

Stratford-upon-Avon, Shakespeare's birth place is a country side. He liked the rivers, trees and nature and it inspired him

This is a very interesting video which helps you to contextualise Shakespeare´plays

The place Stratford-upon-Avon was an amazing place when Shakespeare was born. Its nature, people of different trades, lakes, rivers, grass and herbs and all the localities that inspired my favourite writer, Shakespeare to writing.
